The Bluestem Store is a delightful gift shop with a great selection of prairie-related items. Operated by the Friends of the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, the Bluestem Store buyers select only the best gifts, books and souvenirs that will help visitors of all ages discover the prairie pothole region. From books on how to bring the native prairie into your backyard, to a variety of games and activities that encourage exploration of the environment, the store is a great place to shop for holiday and birthday party gifts, field guides and more!

Store items include a large variety of books – both educational and entertaining – for children and adults. To complement our Prairie Restoration Library, all reference books available for use in the library, are also available for purchase in the Bluestem Store. We also offer clothing, jewelry, field-related items (like water bottles, etc.), home-grown foods and souvenirs (postcards, stickers, etc.).

All proceeds from purchases at the Bluestem Store benefit the students who visit the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, through support of the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center scholarship fund and purchases of educational materials. Friends members receive a 10 percent discount on all purchases.

Hours

The store is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 9 am to 5 p.m. (June through August) and closed on Sunday. It is also open during special events.
